No Taxation without Representation…More Like No Tax Problem Resolution without Representation

Why you should get representation when you owe taxes from unfiled returns or have other tax problems and not solely depend on a revenue officer from the IRS for all help. Consider a certified tax resolution specialist to help you with your tax problems.

Owing taxes is a dreaded item for all individuals, but figuring out how to solve the tax problem is extremely overwhelming.

When the Revenue Officer tells you, "You really do not need representation to fix your tax problem. The two of us can work together," do you really believe her?

The scariest thing to a person with tax problems is the dreaded IRS agent knock at your door. The approach a revenue officer takes is to attempt to get taxpayers to immediately pay all their taxes. Though the approach sounds good, most individuals that we work with are not paying their taxes not because they do not want to but because they have no way of paying them. So to be told that taxes must be paid immediately is sometimes beyond a person’s capability. Furthermore, the IRS agent will often say that representation for fixing the tax problem is not needed. So now that an individual is in trouble why should he believe this IRS agent telling him that he doesn’t need representation for fixing his tax problem?

Don’t fall into The Gingerbread Man trap
After all, when the fox told the Gingerbread Man he would help him over the river, we all know what happened to the Gingerbread Man. The fox ate him. The fable of the Gingerbread Man is similar to the scenario of the IRS agent telling the taxpayer not to get representation. Though unlike the fox most revenue officers aren’t out to get taxpayers, the point is do not necessarily completely trust an individual who tells you she is able to help you.

In a recent case we had, the Internal Revenue Service’s Revenue Officer, wanting to work with the taxpayer directly, told the taxpayer that he did not need representation. The taxpayer, however, knew that over the past year things had gone from bad to worse and decided to get help fixing his tax problem. After all, he got in this trouble, $200,000 worth, and now he was supposed to trust the Internal Revenue Service to help him fix it? The problem did not just happen over night and for most taxpayers, coming up with $200,000 to pay late taxes takes more than a quick fix. With the Revenue Officer looking out for the best interest of the government, will she really be able to tell you what works best for you to fix the tax problem? The instinct of people is that they want to trust individuals. Just like the gingerbread wanted to trust the fox.

Tax Representation is Your Right

One of the best options that are available to individuals is to invoke the right to representation. The right to representation is in the taxpayer’s bill of rights. When looking for a qualified individual to represent you in front of the Internal Revenue Service, you want someone with experience and practice. One such professional that helps individuals solve tax problems is a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist. The fact that these professionals focus on tax problems on a daily basis assures you that you are finding an individual or firm that can help solve your tax problem. Beware of firms that say they help people solve tax problems but do not necessarily have any professionals on the staff. Truly if they have no professionals on the staff, they may not have a representative who can advocate for you in front of the IRS. Also, a firm that does not focus on representation may not be accustomed to all the ins and outs of the IRS.

When you have IRS problems, you want to have experienced, knowledgeable people on your side. At Centsable Accounting, we pride ourselves on learning and practicing the best representation for you to solve your tax problem. If you have a tax problem, put the Tax Problem Solvers to work for you.
